Believer's Baptism

Simply put, baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It is a beautiful, public declaration to your church, your family, and the world that you have chosen to follow Jesus.

It is important to note that baptism itself does not save you; salvation comes solely through grace by faith in Jesus Christ. However, baptism is a crucial, joyful step of obedience in the life of a believer. It is a direct response to the Great Commission, where Jesus commanded His followers to go into all the world, make disciples, and baptize them in His name. When you are immersed in the water, you are following Jesus’ direct example and instruction—powerfully symbolizing the death of your old life and being raised to walk in newness of life.

If you are wondering what the Bible says about this step, three primary reasons stand out in scripture:  To follow Jesus’ example: Jesus modeled the way for us by being baptized himself at the start of his ministry (Matthew 3:13-17).  Because Jesus commanded it: Before ascending to heaven, Jesus left his followers with a clear mission: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19).

To share your story with the world: Baptism is a beautiful, physical illustration of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. As Romans 6:4 tells us, "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."  When you step into the water, it symbolizes letting go of your old life. When you are raised up out of the water, it celebrates your fresh, vibrant new life in Christ!
